CGM Regional Mission Conference

“We Are Still Called to the Nations:                                                  New Global Mission Strategies for the 21st Century”

September 30 – October 1, 2022

All kingdom building ministry – local, regional and global (Acts 1:8) – is anchored in the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus, and His unchanging command to “go and make disciples of all the nations (ethne)” (Matthew 28:19).  How do we respond faithfully and intentionally to His call as congregations and Christ-followers in the midst of staffing changes, rotating council member terms, mission team membership changes (if one even exists), as well as post pandemic challenges?

In our ‘post-Covid’ world, we are being nudged lovingly but steadily by God’s Spirit to adapt to changing contexts. Yet, this is not the only time in history that the church has had to adapt. His Church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, will find the path forward in global mission as we reflect together on God’s unchanging purpose in the context of a changing world.

In light of the CALL and the CONTEXT, we are excited to announce our first-ever CGM Global Mission Conference! It is set for this fall, 2022, and sponsored by our CGM partners: Friends of Madagascar Mission (FOMM), Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT), World Mission Prayer League (WMPL), and Awakening Lives to World Missions (ALWM).

We are co-sponsoring the Conference with Ascension Lutheran Church (ALC), Ames, IA, who will host the event! I am personally grateful to Pastor Roger Twito, EM team leader Phil Gassman and their EM team for agreeing to be the Conference host! ALC has a long and strategic global mission history, and an expanding vision for more involvement. ALC and CGM have a common vision for a global mission gathering that will serve local congregations. We want to bring together Lutheran mission agencies and church leaders, whether you are still learning the basics or looking for ways to be more effective in investing benevolence and partnering to reach the nations.

Friday, September 30: We will gather for an evening of prayer for world missions, led by WMPL.

Saturday, October 1: We will gather again from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturday’s activities will include plenary sessions with key speakers, helpful workshops, mission resources and displays, networking, fellowship, and more prayer.

The Conference will also be live streamed. Come and join us. Bring your mission team to learn and grow! Visit alwm.org/globalmissionconference for more information. The cost is just $15 per person, including lunch. Registration will open soon. The full schedule will be available later this summer.
