A Team Effort
Successful Mission has always been a team effort. We discover that God believes in partners working together to get the Gospel out. The Holy Spirit and God’s Word, Paul and Barnabus, the Antioch church and the Jerusalem church, people on the mission field and the prayers of partners back home. Missionaries sacrificing their lives and congregations raising money so they can do this.
An Idea Grows
Celebrating Global Mission (CGM) is no different. I remember where I was when I had this vision of doing even more networking and cooperation between mission ministries through a free online magazine. I imagined this would blossom into many other works that would help support and encourage more fruitful Mission.
I had an idea, but Bill Moberly watered and grew it. He has done and still does the hard part of this enterprise. God has gifted him with the skill to edit the magazine and do all that needs to get done. He was the perfect guy at the right time.
A mission-hearted Baptist, Joy Minion, joined our team and she beautifully designs and coordinates the creation of every post.
Then we had a handful of mission ministries come on board – ministries that also saw the great plus in working together to make Mission more powerful, ministries that share the writing of the articles and are committed to helping promote all Mission work, not just their own. These Partner ministries include:
A Challenge for the Future: Let’s Dream Together!
What I see for the future of CGM is to continue providing this great resource to many people who have a passion for Mission. But I see more – I want to make this challenge: let’s prayerfully dream together. With God’s help, let us discover creative and new ways of doing Mission…together.
My father never went to college and worked as an accountant for a print shop. One day, while he was in a nearby town visiting his friends who owned a small bank, one of the men gave my father a worn book of interest tables that every bank needed back then. My dad was confused that the bank wouldn’t just order new ones. He was told they could not find new ones anywhere to reorder. This was the start of a new company. The three men started printing new books and marketing them. My dad eventually made as much money on the side with this business as with his full-time job. Just because of an idea.
I want us to challenge each other to dream. There are better and more powerful ways of doing Mission than we presently know. The ideas just haven’t been born yet. Let’s think of ourselves as mid-wives who are helping aid the birth of Mission-changing ideas. Then together we can bring even more men and women to faith in Jesus Christ as the Spirit bears Christ in our work.
