Interview with Delgermaa

I recently asked Delgermaa Lkhasuren, a new member of the WMPL team, “Why did God have you learn English?” She responded by giving me some background information.

Delgermaa was born and raised in Mongolia. She first remembers hearing the Gospel when she was nine years old. English teachers, sisters from Oregon, taught English at the secondary school, as well as at the church Sunday school. Delgermaa loved attending those classes and Miss Sylvia quickly noted her interest. None of Delgermaa’s family attended church, being Buddhist, but Delgermaa would come to Sunday school, and at times, her mother would attend church as well. Delgermaa notes, “I was blessed to have parents who gave me a precious choice for my faith.”

From a very young age Delgermaa was asked to help translate. She remembers translating for missionaries, for mission groups, even for the Army! One mission group from Texas paid her $10/day as translator—very good money for the time! While she was continuing to perfect her pronounciation of English words, Delgermaa was also hearing, and retelling, the Gospel message.

When she was 15, she went to the capital city to improve her English and to take the proficiency test. To prepare, Delgermaa took an English-speaking class from a Philippine believer, who has since become a life-long sister. Dina discipled her using the Bill Bright Campus Crusade training materials and at 16 Delgermaa was baptized.

While Delgermaa was attending the University of Minnesota she became friends with another believer, one who had connections to the Prayer League. Together they attended various events, such as the monthly in-person Ask for the Nations gatherings.

Delgermaa received her graduate degree from the University of Minnesota. Being from Mongolia, Midwest winters were not a problem. After graduation of Minnesota, Delgermaa loved working as a case manager for Lutheran Social Services (LSSMN) in Minneapolis. As a member of Southeast Christian Church, Delgermaa was involved in outreach opportunities such as Operation Christmas Child.

Excerpts from Delgermaa’s November 2025 Newsletter to Supporters

I can’t believe that, as I type, the day would come when I’d be writing a newsletter! Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that I would be working in a Christian non-profit organization and among other Christians serving churches, global ministries, and soon-to-be followers of Jesus. It was most certainly not in my mind when I came to the US in 2022 to study at the University of Minnesota. In fact, I had quite a different plan and was keeping my professional life separate from my faith life. However, all-the-while I was quietly surrendering and whispering to God, “Give me life worth living.” Now, here I am, trying to put together this letter to tell you how unexpected events (completely within our all-knowing Father’s purposes) challenged me and have awesomely blessed our family.

God’s Plan: Several years ago, God spoke through my mother indicating that I would leave Mongolia and go to “another land.” While my mother gently advised me, my young son was also determined that we go back to the States where we had lived in 2014-2016. Then, just two weeks after telling me her prediction my mother sadly passed away. Four months after her passing, I faced another difficult event: I now had two children to raise on my own. God used Psalm 23 to guide, comfort and ground me. Through prayer and processing, God grew me in faith and drew me closer to himself.

It took three more tough years before my mother’s prediction became reality. In 2022 my two children and I moved to “another land” — beautiful Minnesota. Coming here wasn’t easy, I must say. I said goodbye to all my beloved people, including my dear father. He passed away in 2023. Suddenly I had to travel back to Mongolia to attend his funeral. It goes without saying that my heart was heavy… Nevertheless, God has been miraculously good to me. In our new homeland of Minnesota God has provided us with love and care through our new friends and even gave us a new “adopted” family: mother and father, and home and hope. Indeed, how good is the God we adore…!

Prayer League: After graduating with a Master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and working for refugee organizations, I was ready for a full-time commitment! My friend Yulia told me about the World Mission Prayer League (now known as the Prayer League) and invited me to a Wednesday Bible study in the WMPL Home Office based in Minneapolis. I soon engaged more closely with members of the community through their monthly prayer gathering, “Ask for the Nations”. Despite the organization’s humble nature, I was deeply impressed with the integrity and virtue of the people I interacted with, but I wasn’t planning that I would soon become a staff member. Fast-forward, I am here working full-time in the Home Office with program and grants coordination!

Notes from the Author

In 2025 Delgermaa joined WMPL’s Home Staff as project director. Her attention to detail, understanding of complex issues and depth of spiritual understanding have made her an important, vital global worker and prayer warrior.

She has made a very conscious effort to travel the United States, driving many miles with her children, but enjoying visits with Prayer League personnel across the continent.
